The fundamental purpose of the Communication Technician is to operate EMS Computer Aided Dispatching and other related communications equipment to quickly and accurately receive and transmit information to ambulance and wheel chair van operators.The Communication Technician is required to maintain logs and other databases during the course of their assigned shift. Work involves evaluating incoming calls to determine the appropriate level of EMS assistance required, dispatching units, and transmitting information and messages upon request and/or according to established procedures. Communication Technician’s are expected to demonstrate extensive communications skills and to exercise considerable judgment under pressure.

The EMT-Paramedic functions under the supervision of the Executive Director and Medical Director. The Paramedic is a certified health care provider who is responsible and accountable for meeting or exceeding the Standard of Care as outlined by the protocols of Coastal EMS. The Paramedic will provide ongoing care to these patients via therapeutic use of the established pre-hospital process, the environment, instrumentation, other health care team members, and interacting agencies. The primary objective of the Paramedic is to provide safe and expedient response to emergent and non-emergent calls where patient care is provided and continued en-route to a definitive care facility.
